John's Background Switcher - 更新履歴

5.2

Bug Fixes:

  • Crash when attempting to access the settings and they’re locked, possibly by JBS
FIXED: This tricky-to-diagnose bug, which caused most crashes in JBS for the past few versions, has finally been fixed. Yay!
  • Random crash when no monitor is detected, usually on a remote desktop connection
FIXED: Fixed a crash buried deep in .NET when there is no montor detected
  • When JBS hits the Google Photos API daily limit it made you re-authenticate with Google
FIXED: When JBS hit the Google Photos API quota for the day it would no longer think it was authenticated with Google. Now it remembers.
  • Change the way JBS interacts with Google Photos to stop it actually hitting the daily quota limits
FIXED: I’ve implemented more fine grained caching to JBS depending on what your display options are to stop it making quite as many API calls to Google.
This should (hopefully) stop JBS Google Photos integration from failing towards the end of the day.
    Fingers crossed!
5.1

Features and Changes:

  • 13405: Add support for Ultra HD Wallpapers
FEATURE: You can now add RSS feeds from Ultra HD Wallpapers to JBS.
Give it a try, there are loads of superb photos to choose from!
  • 13685: Update the Unsplash icon to use the new one
CHANGED: JBS now uses the newly redesigned Unsplash icon. Yay!
  • 13335: Update Unsplash to remove the deprecated API methods
CHANGED: Removed the deprecated Unsplash API endpoints which includes the curated options unfortunately.
  • 13704: Change Google Photos integration to use a separate browser for authentication
CHANGED: If you used device two factor authentication (rather than a code) then it wouldn’t work when authenticating JBS with Google Photos.
Now that authentication is done via a separate browser window this problem will be resolved.
Bug Fixes:
  • 13743: Tumblr feeds are broken again in the European Union
FIXED: Don’t panic, Tumblr feeds in the EU are working again ? yay!
  • 13738: SmugMug isn’t choosing from all photos in an album
FIXED: JBS was only getting a maximum of 200 photos from any SmugMug album and now chooses from all photos in an album.
  • 13692: Artstation feeds often include emojis when it shouldn’t
FIXED: Now JBS will skip smilies when contained within an Artstation feed.
  • 13673: When JBS hits the Google Photos rate limit it was trying again and so wasting an API call
FIXED: If JBS hit the Google Photos rate limit then it would do the equivalent of a hissy fit and make one more petulant call to Google’s API.
Now it’ll just quieten down like a good boy.
4.17

Features and Changes:

  • Add OneDrive (personal) support
FEATURE: You can now use your OneDrive cloud storage folders as a photo source for JBS. Yay!
  • Add Unsplash integration
FEATURE: You can now choose photos from the awesome photography site Unsplash.
You can either choose from curated photos, the newest, most popular or specific user’s photos as well as from search queries.
One thing’s for sure ? you’ll always get amazing photos!
  • Add support for artstation feeds
FEATURE: The RSS feed functionality now supports ArtStation feeds.
  • Add the option to filter out adult photos from Pixabay
FEATURE: You can now choose to filter out adult photos from Pixabay searches.
    Handy in an office environment!
  • Add the option to put the picture information in any corner of the screen
FEATURE: You can now choose which corner of the screen to show the picture information on.
No more having it stuck at the top-right all the time! Of course you can switch it off entirely from ‘More Settings’.
  • Add a Swedish translation
FEATURE: JBS is now available in Swedish. Thanks Sopor!
  • The Facebook API no longer allows non-business apps like JBS to query for users photos
CHANGED: Facebook now require apps that request photo access to be a verified business and since I’m just a guy called John Conners I’m not that.
So I’ve had to remove Facebook from JBS. Sorry about that!
  • Remove 500px as they’re switching the API off
CHANGED: Unfortunately 500px have switched off their API so apps like JBS are no longer able to use them as a photo source.
It was fun while it lasted.
  • Update the SmugMug API to the latest version
CHANGED: SmugMug is about to switch off the old API JBS uses so I’ve updated the integration to use the latest version.
Unfortunately for the time being that means JBS doesn’t support site or album passwords.
Next, instead of login details for each photo set you’ll need to authenticate JBS with SmugMug once and then be able to choose from your photos or any other user’s public photos and albums.
Just open a SmugMug set or click the the ‘Authorise’ on the settings dialog, then SmugMug to continue.
Bug Fixes:
  • Divide by zero error when using a large collage size
FIXED: Corrected a photo collage “divide by zero” error when using large collage sizes on a small screen.
  • The folder switcher applies orientation checking to all photos (so montage pictures) which it shouldn’t do
FIXED: If you chose local pictures, a montage mode like postcard pile and opted to only show landscape pictures for full screen photos JBS would filter portraits out of the montage.
This was not the intended behaviour was at odds with other sources.
Now it behaves like the rest to be consistent!
  • Pixabay URLs return a 404 page
FIXED: When you went to view a Pixabay photo you’d get a 404 error page.
Now you’ll go to the actual photo page.
  • Attempting to send a picture via email results in an error
FIXED: This problem has now been fixed. Email away!
4.16

Features and Changes:

  • Update JBS to use the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
CHANGED: After over a decade of being built on Microsoft .NET 2.0 JBS has now moved with the times and is now built on .NET 4.5.
What does this mean? It means new installs take less time (since Windows 8 and above include .NET 4.5 but had to install an older version when you installed JBS),
some long standing bugs JBS had to workaround are no longer problems,
it means JBS should be more stable and can have some cool new performance improvements added in the future.
On the down side it means JBS no longer supports older versions of Windows than Vista.
Bye bye Windows XP, it's been fun!
  • Pick up the date from RSS feeds
FEATURE: JBS now attempts to use the publication date as the photo date when handing MediaRSS photo feeds. Basically,
if you show photo information you'll now see the date too for RSS photos if it's available.
Bug Fixes:
  • 500px integration is broken due to TLS/SSL changes made to 500px
FIXED: 500px disabled the old, insecure TLS1 encryption protocol which broke JBS integration.
    This has now been corrected.
  • Crash when authenticating with Dropbox and your web connection drops out
FIXED: This edge case has now been fixed - but you still need to sort that dodgy network connection out!
  • The popup notifier window often shows cut off text
FIXED: Now you can see popup errors in all their glory!
  • The calendar appears tiny on high DPI displays
FIXED: Now the calendar scales correctly with the display DPI and doesn't require a magnifying glass to see.
4.15

Features and Changes:

  • 12735: Add the option to change the collage tile size
FEATURE: You can now change the size of the photo collage tiles - just take a look at the 'Montages' section of 'More Settings'.
Since space is tight you'll need to scroll down to change the sizes.
  • 12419: Remove auto downloading of full sized pictures
CHANGED: While JBS has supported downloading and saving full-sized photos for many years, it turns out this behaviour is prohibited by some photo service API JBS uses so I've removed it.
If you depended upon that functionality then you'll have to use another app I'm afraid!
  • 12564: Update Dropbox integration to use the v2 API
CHANGED: Dropbox has a new version of their API which JBS now supports.
Unfortunately this means you'll need to re-authenticate with Dropbox again as I've had to request a new API key from Dropbox to support the change.
  • 12462: Explain the minimum size limitation in the help file
CHANGED: The help file wasn't entirely clear on how the 'only show pictures larger than x pixels' feature worked. Now it is.
  • 12731: Remove delicious from JBS
CHANGED: Since Pinboard has acquired delicious and it's being killed off so has been removed from JBS.
  • 12657: Remove Phanfare completely
CHANGED: Phanfare has migrated to SmugMug so has been removed from JBS completely.
4.14

Features and Changes:

  • 2393: Add support for the Bing picture of the day photo feed
FEATURE: You can now add the Bing photo of the day feed to the RSS feeds section.
  • 12394: Improve support for DeviantArt
FEATURE: You can now add the URL from a DeviantArt gallery or user directly as an RSS Feed to JBS to choose from the relevant public photos.
  • 12397 Increase the maximum size for postcards as big monitors are all the rage these days
CHANGED: You can now choose postcard / polaroids up to 800 pixels in size from the ‘Montages’ section of ‘More Settings’. Sometimes big is best.
Bug Fixes:
  • 12391: The JBS menu and dialogs took pretty terrible on 4K Windows 10 machines
FIXED: While it might seem simple it was in fact a bit of a nightmare to get the user interface to scale properly ? however now it should look massively better!
4.13

Features and Changes:

  • 12059: Remove all Instagram options except choosing from your own photos
CHANGED: Instagram no longer allows 3rd party applications to see your feed or search for photos - it will only allow access to your own photos, so JBS has to follow suit.
Bug Fixes:
  • 12009: Random GDI+ errors in Windows 10 keep popping up
FIXED: Windows 10 has the option to sync your desktop between machines via OneDrive integration.
This process would frequently lock the desktop image meaning JBS wouldn’t be able to change it (ironically) and result in the GDI+ error.
In this case JBS tries again after a few seconds, hopefully long enough for Windows to sort itself out.
  • 11811: Crash when adding a picture to a picture list when running in the Finnish language
FIXED: This problem has now been corrected.
  • 12016: Sometimes 500px would return random photos unrelated to your selections
FIXED: As per the description, you’d choose one category but sometimes see photos from another.
    This has now been corrected.
